01 Oct Centanni Receives CTSI Translational Pilot Award to study how traumatic stress impacts brain-heart communication
The lab received a Translational Research Pilot Award from the Wake Forest Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), co-funded by the Cardiovascular Sciences Center and the Hypertension and Vascular Research Center. The project, Cardiac Autonomic Function and Mid-Insula Circuit Dysregulation in Traumatic Stress, brings together neuroscience, cardiovascular physiology, and biostatistics to ask how mid-insula circuits shape the body’s autonomic response to traumatic stress. The goal is to lay the groundwork for circuit-based biomarkers that could improve diagnosis and treatment of stress-related disorders.
Thank you to our collaborators Hossam Shaltout and Robert Gould.
